More in Community
We're a vibrant parish and the Mother Church of the Diocese of Nottingham.
Cathedral Clergy and Staff
The Cathedral is served by a dedicated team of priests, a deacon, a parish sister and a committed team of paid and volunteer staff.
Parish Groups
The Cathedral Parish is a vibrant and diverse community with many organisations and groups associated with it. You can find information about the various groups below and also on the ‘Events’ section of our website.
Bishop of Nottingham
The Cathedral is the chief or mother church of a diocese, in which the bishop has his throne, the ‘cathedra’ for which the building is named, and from which the bishop leads the diocese.
Cathedral Chapter
On the 2nd July 1852, shortly after the Cathedral was so-designated, and at the behest of Joseph Hendren OSF, first Bishop of Nottingham, the Chapter of the Cathedral was constituted, consisting of a Provost and ten canons.
Friends of Nottingham Cathedral
The Friends of Nottingham Cathedral (‘The Friends’) was established in 2021 to complement the Cathedral’s mission to become a landmark destination within the City and better known across the diocese.
Get Involved
The Cathedral is not just a busy parish, but it is the mother Church of the Diocese and a heritage attraction in the region.
