The Friends’ Inaugural Summer Lecture

Friends

The Friends of Nottingham Cathedral hosted their inaugural Summer lecture at the end of June and welcomed over 50 attendees to learn more about Catholic architecture in England and Wales.

Delivered by Sophie Andreae CBE, DSG, FSA, IHBC, the lecture offered a ‘glimpse of heaven’ as Sophie journeyed through the various styles, shapes, sizes and history of Catholic architecture in this country. Whilst the talk encompassed places of worship from across the country, particular attention was given to four local Catholic Churches of note here in the East Midlands: St Barnabas Cathedral Nottingham, St Mary’s Derby, Good Shepherd Woodthorpe and All Saints Hassop. Bishop Patrick gave a word of thanks to Sophie and also thanked the Friends for their commitment to raising the profile of the Cathedral through their various events and activities. The evening concluded with drinks and the opportunity for Q&A with Sophie.
