Come and Play the Cathedral Organ
A hands on afternoon of activities and the opportunity to learn about and play the organ, for children and young people.
Ever wondered how the magnificent sounds of a Cathedral organ are produced?
Why are there several keyboards and what is the organist doing with their feet?
What do all the knobs and buttons do?
Find the answers to these and many more questions at our 'Come and play' afternoon and get hands on with the 'King of the Instruments', in collaboration with the Nottingham and District Society of Organists.
As well as demonstrations and the opportunity to play the Cathedral organ, there will be a range of interactive activities in the Cathedral Hall, from blowing through organ pipes, seeing the different types of pipe, and craft activities.
Tours of the Cathedral, and refreshments will be available from 12noon to 3pm too, so there will be plenty to do.
This event is ideal for young people with some keyboard skills to bring along their favourite piece to play on the organ.
Those under 16 years of age, should be accompanied by a responsible adult.
No booking required.
