Heritage Open Days: Tours & Talks

Heritage

Guided tours with pop up talks on the Cathedral's architecture, music and paint conservation.

Free guided tours will include the crypt, not normally open to the public, and a small exhibition of the cathedral's treasures. There will be a special emphasis on the cathedral's early decorative schemes, elements of which have recently been uncovered, and we will be unveiling the new Restoring Pugin Project, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, and the plans to restore Pugin’s original decoration, starting in the eastern chapels.

The following pop up talks will be given throughout the afternoon:

Development of the Restoring Pugin Project, Mark Pearce, Lead Architect of the Restoring Pugin Project.

Pugin's and Other Decorative Schemes, Sue Lee, Eskdale Restoration.

Liturgical Music in Pugin's Time, Gregory Treloar, Director of Music for Nottingham Diocese

The Restoring Pugin Project, Jane Hellings, Project Manager of the Restoring Pugin Project.

Tours will depart throughout the afternoon, so pop in whenever.

This activity has been made possible thanks to generous funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
