We're a vibrant parish and the Mother Church of the Diocese of Nottingham.

As such, this makes the Cathedral a unique 'community of communities' here in the Diocese of Nottingham. We are a parish community, with all the usual needs, demands, ministries, groups and activities that you'd find in any other parish in the diocese. We are the Mother Church of the Diocese, making us the 'spiritual home' for Catholics across much of the East Midlands. This means we often host many diocesan gatherings and celebrations, as the focal point of diocesan life. We are also heirs to a rich architectural history here and seek to share our unique Pugin heritage with ever-wider audiences in the City and further afield.

Cathedral Chapter

On the 2nd July 1852, shortly after the Cathedral was so-designated, and at the behest of Joseph Hendren OSF, first Bishop of Nottingham, the Chapter of the Cathedral was constituted, consisting of a Provost and ten canons.
